Comments: 

This type of fungi falls in the Zygomycota. They produce structures called sporangia that release sporangiospores. This species starts out producing small yellow structures that elongate, forming tall gray sporangia with black heads. It could be Phycomyces blakesleeanus as it was found growing on animal scat on a log.  One interesting feature is they exhibit phototropism, growing towards their source of light.
