Hygrophorus occidentalis

Common Name: White Waxy Cap

Synonyms:

Substrate: Ground

Location: Hardwood Forests

Spore Color: White

Gill Color: White

Comments:

One way to think about this mushroom is a version of Hygrophorus eberneus with gray colorations on the cap. The colors tend to be most concentrated towards the center, and fade to white out towards the margin. Both the cap and the stem should be slimy.

Lookalikes:

Hygrophorus eberneus lacks gray colors.
