Comments: 

Start with the white cap and white stem. The cap AND stem should be very sticky. Finally look at the gills. They should be well-spaced. This is the type species for Hygrophorus. Said to be edible. Lookalikes will lack the slime on the cap and stalk. 

Lookalikes:  

H. cossus which should have pale pinkish gills and a distinct odor.
