Russula pulverulenta

Common Name: None

Synonyms:

Substrate: Ground

Location: Hardwood forests

Spore Color: Yellowish

Gill Color: White to yellowish

Comments:

This is one of the "foetid" Russulas, so it usually has a distinctive odor. What separates this mushroom out are the yellow scales/granules that are found on the surface of the cap.

Lookalikes:

Russula pectinatoides is also a "foetid" Russula, but does not have yellowish granules on the cap surface. Russula granulata has reddish-brown to yellowish-brown granules on the cap.
