Postia caesia

Common Name: Blue Cheese Polypore

Synonyms: Tyromyces caesius

Substrate: Wood

Location: Hardwood Forests

Spore Color: White

Pore Color: White

Comments:

This mushroom used to be in the genus Tyromyces because of the soft, watery texture to the polypore. This species should have a blue-gray hairy surface, which is how it is distinguished from Tyromyes chioneus.

Lookalikes:

Tyromyces chioneus has a white surface. T. fragilis occurs on conifers. T. lacteus lacks a fragrant odor.
