Comments: 

This Mycena tends to have a brown center that fades towards the margin. The margin of the cap also often has tooth-like remnants. The stem fades to a darker brown towards the base. It should have a "mealy" odor. 

This mushroom belongs to Section Typicae of Mycena. There are about 50 similar mushrooms in this section, so you should base your ID accordingly.

Lookalikes:  

Mycena galericulata is similar. It is a little larger, does not have a distinctive smell, and has a slight root-like base. Mycena maculata has reddish spots on the gills. Mycena atkinsoniana has maroon edges on the gills.
