Micromphale foetidum

Common Name: Fetid Marasmius

Synonyms: Marasmius foetidus

Substrate: Decomposing wood

Location: Hardwood forests

Spore Color: White

Gill Color: Whitish

Comments:

I tend to think of this as an ugly mushroom, although it may not be deserved. If you consider foul smelling to be ugly, then it may fit. This is a stereotypical LBM (Little Brown Mushroom). It grows from decomposing wood. Look for the brown cap that is sunken in the center and a dark brown stem to go along with the smell.
