Comments: 

The main character to look for with this mushroom are the widely spaced gills. They exude a white latex that does not stain. 

Said to be a choice edible.

Lookalikes:  

Lactarius volemus has closely spaced gills and a latex that stains things brown. Lactarius corrugus has a corrugated cap.
