Galiella rufa

Common Name: Hairy Rubber Cup

Synonyms:

Substrate: Wood - Sticks and Branches

Location: Hardwood Forests

Comments:

This mushroom tends to like to grow on sticks and branches that are down in the forest litter. It is fairly distinctive because it is a cup fungus that when squeezed, has a rubbery, almost gelatinous feel to the flesh of the cup. Many types of cup fungi have a very thin flesh. This is thick and squishy. The inner cup surface is a tan-brown color, while the underside is blackish. It sometimes has a short stalk.
