Amanita sp-N47

Common Name: None

Synonyms:

Substrate: Ground

Location: Hardwood Forests

Spore Color: White

Gill Color: White

Comments:

This is another Amanita species I am not completely sure about for a couple of reasons. The first thing is that the mushroom was sterile, so I was not able to get spore sizes. Secondly, insect damage prevents one important piece of information. This mushroom can be thought of as a bronze colored A. flavorubens.

Some of my initial notes:

"Stipe with a bit of pinkish upon handling. becoming brownish, almost dark goldish. Yellow material present above partial veil in snakeskin pattern.

Partial veil becoming brown.

Odor not distinctive."

Rod Tulloss' page for the species can be found at Amanitaceae.org. One important piece of information I was not able to acquire was if there was a dimple in the center of the cap. Insect damage occured at that area.

Look at the yellow snakeskin pattern above the veil.
