A small yellow mushroom with yellow gills. Cap color can be somewhat variable. Growing on well decomposing conifer wood. If you add a drop of KOH to the cap, you should get a strong red reaction.


The small yellow Pluteus admirablis can appear similar but has pinkish gills, and usually a brighter yellow cap with a lined margin.
