Vase shapes, False gills.

Chanterelles, as a group of mushrooms, are distinguished by their false gills. Most species of gilled mushrooms have sharp, blade-like gills. Chanterelles have well developed (or sometimes faintly developed) ridges as their spore bearing surface.
